Made-to-measure Ruchaud for your yacht
Every yacht is unique, and so is its marine upholstery. Thanks to our in-house design office, we can model your entire project in 3D, enabling us to visualise each part precisely, anticipate technical constraints on board and guarantee a perfect fit, right down to the smallest detail.
We use your 2D or 3D technical drawings, and can also work directly on your boat to take precise measurements, including on complex or non-standardised shapes. Our technical team (purchasing, design office, upholsterers) analyses the areas of exposure, the constraints of use and the structural characteristics of the yacht to offer you the best combinations of foams, fabrics and fixings in perfect harmony with the boat's interior.
Each upholstery item is made in France in our workshops using high-quality technical materials, specially selected for the marine environment. Comfort, durability and precision are at the heart of our approach.
Technical solutions selected for life at sea
At Ruchaud, the quality of our upholstery depends above all on the rigorous choice of materials. Because the marine environment imposes specific constraints (salt, humidity, UV, heat, mould), we select the best-performing foams and fabrics on the market, tested and adapted to intensive nautical use.
Technical foams for nautical upholstery
We work with several types of high-performance marine foams, adapted to the specific constraints of sailing:
- Polyether or high resilience (HR) foams are perfect for interior upholstery, offering long-lasting comfort with different densities depending on use (mattress, seat, backrest...).
- Dryfeel® outdoor foams specially designed for outdoor use, they provide excellent ventilation, optimal drainage and quick drying, limiting the risk of damp and mould.
- Closed-cell foams they do not retain water and are suitable for certain specific uses.
- Eco-responsible foams made from recycled or natural materials, designed with a reduced environmental impact, without compromising on durability and comfort.
Each upholstery has been designed with a personalised choice of foam, depending on its position on board, the frequency of use and the level of comfort expected.
High-performance marine fabrics
At Ruchaud, each fabric is carefully selected to meet the specific requirements of the nautical environment. We buy directly from manufacturers and regularly attend textile trade shows. This active monitoring is supported by a dedicated purchasing department, working closely with our design office.
We have an extensive weaving library with a wide range of textile references adapted to sailing: technical textiles, marine PVC, vinyls, imitation leather, marine leather, genuine leather... with many grained, smooth, woven or textile-look finishes.
Thanks to our partnerships with the biggest brands in the sector (Dickson Sunbrella, Serge Ferrari, Spradling, Skaï Continental...), we have access to their latest innovations in water-repellent, breathable, UV, mould and wear-resistant coverings and fabrics.
Our sourcing also incorporates a responsible approach, with an increasing selection of recycled, certified or low environmental impact materials, without compromising on performance or aesthetics.

Expert finishes
Because every detail counts, we pay particular attention to finishes and accessories:
- Reinforced seams with threads adapted to the marine environment
- Double or single topstitching, quilting
- Salt-resistant YKK® fasteners
- Marine plywood or rot-proof HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) sheet if structure required
- Stainless steel or plastic marine fasteners depending on use
- Covers may or may not be removable, depending on on-board configuration
